The vertical distance that a projectile rises above its initial position. In the equation of motion for a projectile:

$$y_f=y_i+v_{i}\sin\theta t-\frac{1}{2}gt^2$$

\(y_i\) is the initial height while \(y_f\) is the final height or launch height.
