  • Sprite: Solution or Mixture? Understanding Its Composition
Sprite is a solution. Here's why:

    * Solution: A solution is a homogeneous mixture where one substance (the solute) is dissolved completely into another substance (the solvent). The resulting mixture has a uniform composition throughout.

    * Mixture: A mixture is a combination of two or more substances where each substance retains its own chemical identity.

    In Sprite:

    * Solute: The primary solute is sugar (and possibly other sweeteners), along with flavorings and citric acid.

    * Solvent: The solvent is water.

The sugar, flavorings, and citric acid dissolve completely into the water, creating a homogeneous mixture where you cannot see the individual components. Therefore, Sprite is a solution.
