  • Anton van Leeuwenhoek: The First to Observe Bacteria with a Microscope
The first person to see bacteria cells with a microscope was Anton van Leeuwenhoek in the 17th century.

He was a Dutch scientist, businessman, and amateur microscopist known for his pioneering work in microscopy. He made his own microscopes, which were much more powerful than those of his time, and used them to observe a wide variety of objects, including bacteria.

He called these tiny creatures "animalcules" because they moved like animals. His discovery was a major breakthrough in science, as it provided the first glimpse into the world of microorganisms.
