  • Molecules vs. Cells: Understanding Size and Structure
A molecule is smaller than a cell.

    Here's why:

    * Molecules are the basic building blocks of all matter. They are made up of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds. Examples include water (H₂O), glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆), and DNA.

    * Cells are the fundamental units of life. They are enclosed by a membrane and contain various organelles (like the nucleus, mitochondria, etc.) that carry out specific functions. Cells are made up of countless molecules working together.

Think of it like this: A house is made up of many bricks, just as a cell is made up of many molecules. The brick is smaller than the house, just like a molecule is smaller than a cell.
