  • Why is it Night? Understanding Earth's Rotation and the Sun
The sun doesn't "go anywhere" at night. It's still there, just on the other side of the Earth! Here's why:

    * Earth's Rotation: Our planet spins on its axis, completing one rotation every 24 hours. This rotation is what causes day and night.

    * Sun's Position: The sun is a huge star, and it's always shining. As the Earth spins, the part facing the sun experiences daylight, while the opposite side experiences night.

Think of it like a giant ball being turned in front of a light bulb. The side facing the bulb is lit, while the opposite side is in darkness.
