  • Mars Moons: Phobos & Deimos - Color & Composition
Mars has two moons: Phobos and Deimos. Both moons are dark gray to reddish-brown in color.

This color comes from the composition of the moons, which are primarily made up of:

    * Carbon-rich materials: This gives them a dark, reddish hue, similar to the color of Mars itself.

    * Regolith: This is a loose, broken rock and dust that covers the surface of both moons.

While they are similar in color, Phobos is slightly darker than Deimos.
