  • Solar System's Oldest Objects: Unveiling the Age of Meteorites
The oldest objects in the solar system whose age has been measured are meteorites.

Specifically, carbonaceous chondrites are the oldest type of meteorite, with some dating back to 4.567 billion years old. This age is remarkably close to the estimated age of the solar system itself, making them the oldest known objects formed from the original solar nebula.

While the Sun itself formed slightly earlier than the first meteorites, we can't directly date the Sun using the same methods we use for meteorites.
