  • Pluto's Distance from the Sun: Understanding Dwarf Planets & the Solar System
There is no "tenth planet" in our solar system. Pluto was once considered the ninth planet, but it was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.

Pluto is about 3.7 billion miles (5.9 billion kilometers) from the sun on average. This is roughly 40 times farther than Earth is from the sun.

While there are other objects in the Kuiper Belt that are farther from the sun than Pluto, none of them have been officially designated as planets.
