  • Bipolar Outflows: Understanding Stellar Gas Ejection
This is known as a bipolar outflow.

    Here's why:

    * Bipolar: The gas is ejected in two opposite directions, creating a "bi" or "two" polar flow.

    * Outflow: The gas is being expelled outwards, hence "outflow".

Bipolar outflows are often associated with young stars still forming within their natal cloud of gas and dust. The outflow is caused by the star's intense radiation and stellar winds interacting with the surrounding material.
