  • Understanding Stellar Luminosity: Why Giants Shine Brighter
    An expanding giant star becomes more luminous because its surface area increases as it expands. As the star expands, its surface temperature decreases, but the increased surface area more than compensates for the decrease in temperature, resulting in an overall increase in luminosity.
