  • Venus vs. Mercury: Which Planet is Hottest in Our Solar System?
Mercury is not the warmest planet in our solar system. In fact, it is the closest planet to the Sun, but it is not the warmest. The warmest planet in our solar system is Venus.

Venus has a very thick atmosphere that traps heat, causing the planet to have a surface temperature of around 864 degrees Fahrenheit (462 degrees Celsius). This is hot enough to melt lead!

Mercury's surface temperature can reach up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit (430 degrees Celsius) during the day, but it can also drop to -290 degrees Fahrenheit (-180 degrees Celsius) at night. This is because Mercury has a very thin atmosphere that doesn't trap heat very well.
