  • Facebook's Focus: Network Over Cars - Zuckerberg on Future Plans
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has repeatedly stated that the company has no plans to enter the automotive manufacturing industry. In a 2015 interview with The Verge, Zuckerberg said, "We're not building a car. We're not building a phone. We're not building a TV. We're building the social infrastructure."

Zuckerberg's focus on social networking and connectivity aligns with Facebook's mission of connecting people and building community. The company has invested heavily in developing its social media platform, virtual reality technology, and artificial intelligence research, rather than diversifying into unrelated sectors like automotive manufacturing.

Additionally, entering the automotive industry would require significant financial resources and expertise in engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain management. Facebook's core competencies lie in software development, data analysis, and advertising, which are not directly transferable to the automotive industry.

While Facebook has expressed interest in developing autonomous vehicle technologies and collaborating with automakers, it has emphasized its role as a technology provider and platform developer, rather than an automaker. The company has partnered with several automakers to explore the integration of its software and services into vehicles, but it has not announced plans to build its own cars.
