While there are some similarities in attitudes toward nanotechnologies in the US and UK, there are also important differences. Polling data from the Pew Research Center shows that both the US and UK publics have high hopes for the potential benefits of nanotechnology, such as improved medical treatments and environmental protections. However, the UK public is more supportive of government regulation of nanotechnology than the US public, and is also more concerned about potential risks such as job displacement and increased environmental pollution. Additionally, the UK public is more likely to be aware of nanotechnology and to have a positive opinion of it than the US public.
