  • Pumpkin Chunkin': History, Records & How It Works
Punkin Chunkin is an annual competition where teams build devices to launch pumpkins as far as possible. The world record for the farthest pumpkin chunk is 4,493 feet (1,369 meters), set in 2016 by the "Big 10 Inch" team from Delaware.

The competition began in 1986 with a group of friends competing to see who could throw a pumpkin the farthest. It has since grown into a major event, with hundreds of teams participating from all over the world.

Punkin Chunkin is held in Delaware every November. The competition is divided into several categories, based on the type of device used to launch the pumpkins. There are categories for air cannons, trebuchets, catapults, and other devices.

Each team is given three attempts to launch their pumpkin as far as possible. The distance is measured from the launch point to the point where the pumpkin hits the ground. The team with the longest throw wins the competition.

Punkin Chunkin is a fun and exciting event that celebrates the ingenuity and creativity of its participants. It is also a great way to learn about physics and engineering.
