  • Understanding the Solar System: More Than Just the Sun
No, the solar system does not mean sun.

The solar system is a collection of celestial objects that are bound together by the gravitational influence of a star, the Sun.

    The solar system includes:

    * The Sun: The star at the center.

    * Planets: Eight planets orbiting the Sun (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune)

    * Dwarf planets: Celestial bodies that are similar to planets but haven't cleared their orbital paths (e.g., Pluto, Ceres)

    * Moons: Natural satellites that orbit planets

    * Asteroids: Rocky bodies that orbit the Sun, mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter

    * Comets: Icy bodies that orbit the Sun in highly elliptical paths

    * Other small bodies: Dust, gas, and other smaller objects

So, while the Sun is a key part of the solar system, it doesn't represent the entire system.
