  • What is an Insulator? Properties and Examples
    A material that hinders the passage of electric charge is called an insulator.

    Here's why:

    * Insulators have tightly bound electrons that are difficult to move. This means that when an electric field is applied, the electrons don't easily flow, preventing the passage of electric charge.

    * Conductors, on the other hand, have loosely bound electrons that can move freely. This allows for the easy flow of electric charge.

    Some common examples of insulators include:

    * Rubber

    * Glass

    * Plastic

    * Wood

    * Air
