  • Understanding Weight: Gravity and its Influence
    The force that pulls any two objects toward each other is gravity. The weight of an object depends on gravity. Here's why:

    * Weight vs. Mass:

    * Mass is the amount of matter in an object. It's a fundamental property and doesn't change based on location.

    * Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object's mass. It changes depending on the gravitational field.

    * Gravity's Role:

    * The stronger the gravitational field, the greater the force of gravity pulling on the object, and therefore the heavier the object will feel.

    * For example, you weigh less on the Moon than on Earth because the Moon's gravity is weaker.

    In short: Weight is a direct consequence of the force of gravity.
