  • Understanding Work: The Physics of Force and Distance
    The force used to move an object a certain distance is called work.

    Here's why:

    * Work is defined as the energy transferred to or from an object by an applied force that causes the object to move.

    * This transfer of energy happens when a force acts on an object over a certain distance.

    * The formula for work is: Work (W) = Force (F) x Distance (d)

    Important Note: The force must be in the same direction as the movement for work to be done. If the force is perpendicular to the movement, no work is done.
