  • What is Weight? Understanding the Force of Gravity
The measurement of the force of gravity is called weight.

    Here's why:

    * Gravity is the force of attraction between any two objects with mass.

    * Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object's mass.

So, while gravity itself is a fundamental force, the measurement of its effect on an object is its weight.
