  • Aristotle and Galileo: The Science of Falling Objects - A Historical Perspective
    The Greek philosopher who proposed that the speed at which an object falls is proportional to its mass was Aristotle.

    This idea, however, was later proven incorrect by Galileo Galilei. Galileo demonstrated through experimentation that objects of different masses fall at the same rate in a vacuum, disregarding air resistance.
