  • Calculating Your Weight: How Much Force Do You Exert on Earth?
    You exert a force on the Earth equal to your weight.

    Here's how to calculate it:

    * Weight = Mass x Gravity

    * Mass: Your mass is the amount of matter in your body, usually measured in kilograms (kg).

    * Gravity: The acceleration due to gravity on Earth is approximately 9.8 m/s².

    Example:

    Let's say your mass is 70 kg. Your weight would be:

    * Weight = 70 kg x 9.8 m/s² = 686 Newtons (N)

    So, you push down on the Earth with a force of approximately 686 Newtons.

    Important Note: The Earth also pushes back on you with an equal and opposite force, which is why you don't fall through the ground! This is Newton's Third Law of Motion.
