* State of matter: Solids have a fixed shape and volume, while gases take the shape and volume of their container. This difference arises from the way particles move.
* Particle motion: In solids, particles are tightly packed and vibrate in fixed positions. They have very limited movement. In gases, particles are much farther apart and move freely and randomly at high speeds.
* Energy: The particles in a gas have much more kinetic energy (energy of motion) than particles in a solid. This higher energy allows them to move faster and travel longer distances before colliding with other particles.
Think of it like this: Imagine a crowded dance floor (solid) versus an empty park (gas). People on the dance floor can only move around a little, bumping into each other. People in the park can run freely and cover much more ground.
