When a glass rod is rubbed with a silk cloth, the electrons from the glass rod are transferred to the silk cloth. This is because the silk cloth has a higher affinity for electrons than the glass rod. As a result, the glass rod becomes positively charged and the silk cloth becomes negatively charged.
