  • Understanding Free Fall: When Gravity is the Only Force
The state that exists when the only force acting on an object is gravity is called free fall.

In free fall, an object is not in contact with any other objects that would prevent it from falling freely under the influence of gravity. The only force acting on the object is the force of gravity, which pulls the object toward the center of the Earth at a constant acceleration of approximately 9.81 m/s2.
