    Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist any change in its motion. This includes changes in the object's speed, direction, or both. Inertia is a fundamental property of matter and is one of the three laws of motion proposed by Sir Isaac Newton.

    The first law of motion, also known as the law of inertia, states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will continue moving at a constant velocity in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. In other words, inertia opposes any change in the state of motion of an object.

    Mathematically, inertia is quantified by an object's mass. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object and is directly proportional to its inertia. The greater the mass of an object, the greater its inertia and the more difficult it is to change its motion.

    Inertia is observed in various everyday situations. For example:

    - A ball sitting on the ground will remain at rest until someone kicks it or applies a force to it.

    - A car traveling on the road will continue moving in a straight line at the same speed unless the driver turns the steering wheel or brakes.

    - A person sitting in a chair will remain seated until they stand up or someone pulls them out of the chair.

    Understanding inertia is crucial in various fields, including physics, engineering, and biomechanics. It plays a significant role in the design and operation of vehicles, machinery, and structures to ensure stability, safety, and efficient movement.
