  • Understanding AC Current Flow: How Does Electricity Travel?
The electrons in an alternating current (AC) circuit do not reverse their direction 3 to 4 times a second. Instead, they oscillate back and forth around their average position. This oscillation creates a flow of current that alternates in direction. The frequency of the AC current is determined by the number of times the electrons oscillate back and forth in one second.
