  • Photosynthesis in Trees: What They Produce When They 'Breathe'
Trees don't breathe in the same way that humans do. They don't take in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Instead, they use a process called photosynthesis.

    Here's how it works:

    * Trees take in carbon dioxide and water.

    * They use sunlight as energy.

    * They combine these ingredients to make sugar (glucose) for food.

    * As a byproduct, they release oxygen.

So, trees actually make oxygen when they "breathe".
