  • Sunlight Colors: What Spectrum Reaches Trees?
The Sun emits light across the entire spectrum, but the colors we see in sunlight are mainly:

    * Red: The longest wavelength of visible light.

    * Orange: A mix of red and yellow.

    * Yellow: A blend of red and green.

    * Green: The middle wavelength of visible light.

    * Blue: A mix of green and violet.

    * Indigo: A color between blue and violet.

    * Violet: The shortest wavelength of visible light.

These colors are what make up white light. So, the colors of light that reach the trees from the Sun are all the colors of the rainbow.

However, trees don't absorb all colors equally. They are particularly good at absorbing red and blue light, which is why they appear green. The green light is reflected back to us, making the trees appear green.

This is a simplified explanation, as the actual process of light absorption and reflection in plants is more complex. But it gives a good idea of how light from the Sun interacts with trees.
