  • Understanding Weather: Short-Term Atmospheric Conditions
The general condition of the atmosphere from day to night is called weather.

Weather encompasses all the short-term atmospheric conditions at a particular time and place, including:

    * Temperature: The degree of hotness or coldness.

    * Humidity: The amount of moisture in the air.

    * Precipitation: Any form of water falling from the clouds (rain, snow, sleet, hail).

    * Wind: The movement of air.

    * Cloud cover: The amount of sky obscured by clouds.

    * Visibility: How far you can see.

    * Air pressure: The weight of the atmosphere pressing down on us.

While weather changes constantly, the general patterns of weather over long periods are called climate.
