  • Sheet Flow: Understanding the Initial Stage of Overland Water Runoff
    This is called sheet flow.

Sheet flow is the initial stage of overland flow, where water spreads out across the land surface in a thin, even layer. It occurs when rainfall intensity exceeds the infiltration capacity of the soil, causing the water to run off instead of soaking in.

As the flow concentrates and gains momentum, it eventually transitions into channel flow within defined channels like streams and rivers.
