  • Why Green Leaves Look Black Under Red Light: A Simple Explanation
A green leaf would appear black in red light. Here's why:

    * Chlorophyll: Green leaves are green because of a pigment called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs most wavelengths of light except for green, which it reflects.

    * Red Light Absorption: Chlorophyll absorbs red light very effectively.

    * No Reflection: Since red light is absorbed, there is no light reflected back to our eyes, making the leaf appear black.
