  • UV Fluorescence in Rocks: A Guide to Glowing Minerals
Some of the rocks and minerals that are known to fluoresce under ultraviolet light (UV light) include:

    - Calcite (orange, red, yellow)

    - Fluorite (blue, purple, green, yellow)

    - Scheelite (blue, white)

    - Willemite (green)

    - Smithsonite (orange, yellow, red)

    - Aragonite (orange, red)

    - Gypsum (orange, red, yellow)

    -Opal (blue, green, yellow, red)

    - Serpentine (yellow, green)

    -Petalite (lilac)

Note that the fluorescence properties of minerals may vary depending on their composition and impurities, and not all specimens of the same mineral will exhibit the same fluorescence. Additionally, the intensity and color of the fluorescence can be affected by the wavelength and intensity of the UV light used.
