  • Understanding the States of Matter: Solid, Liquid, and Gas
The three states of matter are:

    1. Solid. A solid has a definite shape and volume, and its particles are held together by strong forces.

    2. Liquid. A liquid has a definite volume but not a definite shape, and its particles are held together by weaker forces than in a solid.

    3. Gas. A gas has neither a definite shape nor a definite volume, and its particles are held together by very weak forces.
