  • The Nature Conservancy: Our Conservation Approach & Impact
    1. We focus on the most important conservation issues.

    We use science to identify the most pressing threats to nature, and then we develop strategies to address them. Our work focuses on six areas:

    * Climate change

    * Biodiversity loss

    * Freshwater conservation

    * Land conservation

    * Marine conservation

    * Sustainable agriculture

    2. We work in partnership with others.

    We believe that we can achieve more by working with others than we can by working alone. We partner with government agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations, and individuals to achieve our goals.

    3. We use a variety of conservation tools.

    We use a variety of conservation tools to address the threats to nature, including:

    * Land acquisition and protection

    * Conservation easements

    * Habitat restoration

    * Species management

    * Advocacy and policy change

    4. We measure our success.

    We are committed to measuring our success and holding ourselves accountable for our results. We track our progress on a variety of metrics, including:

    * The number of acres of land we have protected

    * The number of species we have helped to recover

    * The amount of money we have invested in conservation

    * The number of people we have reached with our message

    5. We are committed to transparency.

    We are committed to being transparent about our work and our finances. We publish an annual report that provides information on our financial statements, our accomplishments, and our plans for the future.

    How you can help

    There are many ways that you can help The Nature Conservancy protect nature. Here are a few ideas:

    * Donate to our work. Your financial support can help us to continue our work to protect nature.

    * Volunteer your time. We have many volunteer opportunities available, both at our headquarters and in the field.

    * Advocate for conservation. Speak up for conservation issues that you care about. Contact your elected officials and let them know that you support conservation funding.

    * Live a sustainable lifestyle. Make choices that reduce your impact on the environment, such as driving less, eating less meat, and recycling more.

    By working together, we can protect nature and ensure that it will thrive for generations to come.
