Eden is a unique global garden. It is a visitor destination which explores the vital relationship between humans and the plant world, and showcases how we can use plants to build a better future. At its core are two large biomes, housing the world’s largest rainforest in captivity, and a Mediterranean biome. The dramatic greenhouses have become iconic landmarks of Cornwall and are surrounded by 20 acres of stunning outdoor gardens, showcasing traditional and modern horticulture, and 500 acres of wild Cornish countryside, with opportunities for a variety of outdoor adventures. This amazing destination welcomes around 1.3 million visitors a year.

Location

The Eden Project is in Bodelva, Cornwall, in the United Kingdom. It is located in a former china clay pit, which has been transformed into a site of scientific, cultural and educational value. The Project consists of two large domed biomes that house a variety of plants from around the world, as well as an outdoor botanical garden and several other visitor attractions.

Biomes

The two biomes at the Eden Project are the Rainforest Biome and the Mediterranean Biome.

* Rainforest Biome: This biome is the largest indoor rainforest in the world. It is home to over 1,000 species of plants, including tropical trees, epiphytes, and ferns. The Rainforest Biome is also home to a variety of animals, such as monkeys, birds, and reptiles.

* Mediterranean Biome: This biome is home to plants from the Mediterranean region, such as olive trees, citrus trees, and lavender. The Mediterranean Biome also features a Mediterranean-style garden, with a fountain and a pergola.

Outdoor Gardens

The Eden Project also has several outdoor gardens, including a Walled Garden, a Mediterranean Garden, and a Wildflower Meadow. The gardens showcase different types of plants and landscape design, and provide visitors with a chance to explore the natural beauty of Cornwall.
