  • Grams vs. Teaspoons: Understanding Mass vs. Volume
    You can't directly compare grams and teaspoons because they measure different things:

    * Grams (g) measure mass or weight.

    * Teaspoons (tsp) measure volume.

    Think of it this way: you could have a teaspoon full of feathers, which would weigh very little, or a teaspoon full of lead shot, which would weigh quite a bit. The volume is the same (one teaspoon), but the mass is different.

    To make a comparison, you need to know what substance you're measuring. For example, if you're talking about sugar, a gram is less than a teaspoon.

    Here's why it's tricky:

    * Density: Different substances have different densities (how much mass is packed into a certain volume). A teaspoon of water weighs less than a teaspoon of honey because honey is denser.

    * Conversion Factors: The conversion between grams and teaspoons varies depending on the substance.

    To figure out the relationship, you need to know the density of the substance you're working with.
