    The outer layer of the Earth is called the crust. It's made up of:

    * Continental crust: This is the thicker and less dense crust that makes up the continents. It's mainly composed of granite and other igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.

    * Oceanic crust: This is the thinner and denser crust that forms the ocean floor. It's primarily composed of basalt and gabbro, which are dark-colored igneous rocks.

    The crust is the thinnest layer of the Earth, but it's the layer we live on and interact with the most!
