  • Earthquake Hotspots: 3 Regions Prone to Seismic Activity
Here are three of the most common locations for earthquakes:

    1. The Ring of Fire: This horseshoe-shaped zone around the Pacific Ocean is home to over 90% of the world's earthquakes and 75% of the world's volcanoes. It's characterized by tectonic plate boundaries, where plates collide and grind against each other.

    2. The Mediterranean-Himalayan Belt: This belt stretches from the Mediterranean Sea across Asia to the Himalayas. It's another area of intense tectonic activity, where the Eurasian plate collides with the African and Indian plates.

    3. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge: This underwater mountain range runs down the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It's a divergent plate boundary where two plates are pulling apart, creating new crust. While earthquakes here are less frequent than those in the Ring of Fire, they can be very powerful.

It's important to remember that earthquakes can occur almost anywhere on Earth, but these are the most common and active regions.
