  • Earth's Tectonic Plates: A Comprehensive Overview
There are seven major tectonic plates in the Earth's crust:

    1. African Plate

    2. Antarctic Plate

    3. Eurasian Plate

    4. Indo-Australian Plate

    5. North American Plate

    6. Pacific Plate

    7. South American Plate

However, it's important to note that these are just the major plates. There are also many smaller plates and microplates. The exact number of these smaller plates is still debated, but it's estimated to be around 20 to 40.

So, while there are seven major plates, the total number of tectonic plates is much higher.
