    The outermost layer of the Earth's surface is the crust.

    It's the thin, rocky outer layer that we live on. There are two types of crust:

    * Continental crust: This is thicker and less dense, making up the land masses.

    * Oceanic crust: This is thinner and denser, forming the ocean floor.
