    The 1985 Mexican earthquake, also known as the Mexico City earthquake, had its epicenter off the coast of Michoacán, Mexico.

    Specifically, the epicenter was located about 350 kilometers (220 miles) southwest of Mexico City, in the Pacific Ocean.

    The earthquake's magnitude was 8.1 on the Richter scale.
