Cali, Colombia is located near the convergent plate boundary between the Nazca Plate and the South American Plate.
This boundary is responsible for the formation of the Andes Mountains, of which Cali is a part. The Nazca Plate is subducting (diving) beneath the South American Plate, leading to volcanic activity and frequent earthquakes in the region.
