  • Earth's Crust Composition: Silicon, Oxygen, and Iron
Earth's crust is mostly made of silicon.

    Here's why:

    * Silicon is the second most abundant element in the Earth's crust (after oxygen). It forms the basis of silicate minerals, which make up the majority of rocks found in the crust.

    * Oxygen is the most abundant element, but it's primarily found in combination with silicon and other elements.

    * Iron is more abundant in the Earth's core and mantle, not the crust.
