  • Earth's Geological Age: Understanding the Quaternary Period
The current geological age of Earth is the Quaternary Period. This period began about 2.6 million years ago and continues to the present day.

Within the Quaternary Period, we are currently in the Holocene Epoch, which started about 11,700 years ago.

It's important to note that geological time is divided into eons, eras, periods, and epochs. The Quaternary Period is part of the Cenozoic Era, which is itself part of the Phanerozoic Eon.
