  • Mid-Atlantic Ridge: Landmasses & Plate Tectonics Explained
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge does not pass through any landmass.

It is a submarine mountain range, running down the center of the Atlantic Ocean, from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the South Atlantic in the south. It is a divergent plate boundary, where the North American and Eurasian plates are moving apart in the north and the South American and African plates are moving apart in the south.

The ridge is a key feature of plate tectonics, and its presence in the Atlantic Ocean helps to explain the formation and movement of the continents.
