* The Mesosphere: This layer of the atmosphere is located between the stratosphere and the thermosphere, roughly 50 to 85 kilometers (31 to 53 miles) above Earth's surface. It's a cold, thin layer with very little air pressure.
* Rocket Trajectories: Most rockets are designed to reach higher altitudes, like low Earth orbit (LEO) which starts around 160 kilometers (100 miles). To do this, they need to pass through the mesosphere.
* Short Duration: Rockets spend a very short amount of time in the mesosphere, only long enough to transition between other atmospheric layers.
So, while rockets do travel through the mesosphere, they are primarily designed for higher altitudes and spend only a brief moment within that layer.
