  • Transforming Igneous Rock: The Processes of Weathering and Sedimentation
The two geological processes involved in changing igneous rock to sedimentary rock are:

    1. Weathering: This is the process of breaking down igneous rock into smaller pieces. This can happen through physical weathering, like freezing and thawing or abrasion, or chemical weathering, like acid rain or oxidation.

    2. Erosion and Transportation: The weathered fragments are then transported by wind, water, or ice to a new location. This movement further breaks down the fragments and sorts them by size and density.

Once these fragments settle and are compacted and cemented together, they become sedimentary rock.
