  • Understanding Earth's Poles: High Latitude Locations Explained
The poles are located in high latitudes.

    Here's why:

    * Latitude is a measurement of distance north or south of the equator.

    * The North Pole is located at 90 degrees North latitude.

    * The South Pole is located at 90 degrees South latitude.

Since the equator is at 0 degrees latitude, the poles are as far away from the equator as you can possibly get.
