  • Understanding the Arabian Peninsula's Desert Climate
The Arabian Peninsula is primarily covered by a hot desert climate. This means it experiences:

    * High temperatures: Average annual temperatures are very high, with summer temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F).

    * Low rainfall: Annual rainfall is very low, often less than 100mm (4 inches).

    * High evaporation rates: The hot and dry conditions lead to high evaporation rates, making it difficult for vegetation to thrive.

There are some variations within this general desert climate, including:

    * Coastal areas: Coastal areas experience slightly milder temperatures due to the moderating influence of the sea.

    * Higher elevations: In the mountains, temperatures are cooler and there is slightly more rainfall.

However, the vast majority of the Arabian Peninsula is characterized by the hot desert climate.
