2. Orographic: This type occurs when moist air is forced to rise over mountains. As the air cools, it condenses and forms precipitation on the windward side of the mountain range.
3. Frontal: This type forms when two air masses of different temperatures and densities meet. The warmer air rises over the cooler air, leading to condensation and precipitation.
There are other less common types of precipitation, but these three are the most common and important.
